I have been creating art since I was a kid (sometimes to the detriment of my parent’s furniture). Living and growing up in Florida, I’ve been inspired by the lush natural scenery surrounding me.

I love taking photographs of the flowers and small critters in my yard. Using my unique perspective, I am able to capture these things with distinctive angles that focus on lines, shapes, and colors.

I’ve always loved drawing and taking photographs, then I started playing with glass mosaics. Eventually I found a way to combine all three by creating mosaics using my drawings or photographs under the glass.

I love using many different textures in my work. I usually start with a photograph or a collage of many different photographic images. Then, I will add a layer of paint (metallic paint and glitter are my favorite) to accentuate certain aspects of the image.

Next, I add the glass over top; sometimes I create patterns in the glass to play off of the images in the photographs and sometimes I use the grout lines in between the glass pieces to outline the shapes of the image.

I incorporate many different sizes, shapes, colors and textures of glass to the surface to capture my one of a kind vision of these moments in nature.

My work is sometimes inspired by my travels and also by the beauty in my own back yard. I always try to capture the essence of the moment, to express something that made an impact on me, and to relate that in my work.

"Sitting, Waiting, Wishing" (skateboard deck) mosaic made with stained glass, beads, millefiori, glitter, iridescent paint and original photography under the glass. Size: 7.5” x 31.5” by Cherie Bosela. See her portfolio at www.ArtsyShark.com

This results in images that are almost like a memory, full of life and expression. I then take these memories and recreate them into a mosaic, giving life back to that little moment and giving the experience to all who pass it.
