I feel privileged to be able to combine two of my passions—art and travel. I am frequently inspired by places I have had the opportunity to visit and experience on my travels near and far.

Fueled by that inspiration, I aim to capture and re-create in my work the effects of light on colors and forms as I have witnessed in those places. As a foundation, years of graphic design experience have influenced the details and development of my paintings.

Oil painting is my area of concentration, with urban landscapes largely drawing my attention. I enjoy re-creating elements of light, colour and form as I endeavour to bring to life the extraordinary character, culture and charm of a location.

For me, the very act of painting on a canvas provides a distinct, relaxing pleasure. Directing dabs and lines of color into combinations that become recognizable, understandable, and ultimately relatable to the observer is a tremendously rewarding experience.

I appreciate the challenge and subtlety of mixing colors—in limitless possible combinations—to acquire the ideal hue and tone. For me, painting provides a total break from reality as I immerse my energies, thoughts, and complete focus into the time and place of the work’s subject.

My work has helped me to indulge in a deeper mindfulness while visiting new locations around the world. This has allowed me to better absorb and appreciate the full experience of what I have seen, heard, and felt; to more fully perceive and understand each unique and inspiring place.

Throughout my career as an artist, I have also enjoyed continued success with commissioned pencil crayon drawings. Working in various mediums helps to drive innovation across my work, and I look forward to the evolution and changes that will emerge from continued engagement with the process.
