Winter Workshop Announcement

By Carolyn Edlund

The Arts Business Institute invites you to attend a workshop on the business of art!

I’m very excited to invite my readers to an upcoming workshop in Philadelphia, PA on February 16-17, 2013 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. This two-day comprehensive workshop on the business of art takes place concurrent with the Buyers Market, which is the largest trade show for handmade luxury goods created by American and Canadian artists.

Nationally known speakers and experts will present lectures during the two-day intensive, and participants will have a tour of the show floor of the trade show. Personalized critiques are available to all attendees. Follow this link for more information.

Topics to be covered:

  • How to Wholesale
  • Pricing
  • Marketing for Artists & Craftspeople
  • Designing Your Line
  • Salesmanship
  • Building Gallery Relationships
  • and more . .
I will be running the workshop, and speaking on how artists can creatively market and promote their work. I hope you can join us there!

The workshop opened up a whole new world for me and let me know artists could be successful. There is a way to do business as an artist and I learned how to do that in your workshop. It changed my thinking and I was able to quit my job and become a full-time artist. Thank you! ~ JJ Jacobs

  1. Hi Carolyn,
Will this workshop be something you will record and perhaps offer up as a webinar or dvd product at a later date?

Would love to be able to offer a remote option to my group and to those who can’t afford travel at this time. : )

    • Actually, Terri, this workshop will not be recorded. It includes many different experiences that cannot be captured on a video. However – and this is a great opportunity – arts guilds and organizations who are interested in having an in-person workshop for their group can apply for ABI’s “Access to Market” program, with grants available – and should apply before November 30, 2012. Here is the link for that program
