Desert Beauty

“Desert Beauty” Acrylic, 24″ x 30″

I grew up in North Carolina and received a BFA at the University of North Carolina in 1986. Shortly afterwards, I moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where I still live. For the past several years, I have worked primarily in acrylics. I tend to make many changes in the course of a painting, so the fast drying quality of acrylics is an advantage for me.

October Morning

“October Morning” Acrylic, 18″ x 14″

The landscape of New Mexico continues to inspire me. The natural beauty of this state is a dream for artists. There is something to look forward to in every season.

My Agave

“My Agave” Acrylic 24″ x 20″

Up until now, I have painted whatever catches my eye – whether it is a flower, cactus or southwestern scene. I would now like to focus my efforts on a series of paintings from my own neighborhood. It is sort of a new area for me and I have endless choices in subject matter right in my own backyard. I think I am in this place for a reason.

San Felipe de Neri

“San Felipe de Neri” Acrylic, 20″ x 16″

I have an incredible view of the Sandia Mountains, sunrises, bluffs, wildlife, plant life and the Rio Grande. I would like to spend more time painting outdoors, even though I prefer to paint inside most of the time.

The Tulip Garden

“The Tulip Garden” Acrylic, 20″ x 30″

I like walking in my neighborhood and taking pictures. Now it is my goal to use all that I have taken in and portray that in my paintings.

The Cider Barn

“The Cider Barn” Acrylic, 16″ x 20″

I am about to begin some paintings of sunrises over the Sandia Mountains at different times of the year. Awesome sunrises have greeted me many mornings. It is interesting to see the many dramatic changes in the sky throughout the day and evening.

Tickled Pink

“Tickled Pink” Acrylic, 20″ x 16″

I have gotten to know this place pretty well and I am ready to paint those moments most memorable to me. If and when it is time for me to leave, I want to feel that I captured as much of this place as I could.
