Amore

“Amore” oil on linen, 18″ x 14″

It’s all about the strokes! And it’s true. From the first time the brush touches the canvas at the beginning of a painting, until the last stroke is placed, each defines its place in the evolution of the work before us.

Symphony #3

“Symphony #3″, pastel on board, 16″ x 20”

I began as a realistic painter. After many years my style evolved, becoming more and more impressionistic;  often abstract. I have garnished many national juried awards over the years. I also hold three Signature Member Honors and one Elected Member Honor with four prestigious American Art Societies, all of which I am proud to have earned, particularly as a self-taught artist.

At the Met - A Visit with Money

“At The Met – A Visit with Money”, oil on Senso Linen, 24″ x 18″

Presently, I am creating new works for my Rainy Day Series, depicting figures under umbrellas with abstract reflections. Reflections are one of my signature statements I incorporate into most of my works. Years ago, in Bath, England, I noticed the colorful reflections on the street as rain was falling.

Bath in the Rain

“Bath in the Rain”, oil on museum panel, 9″ x 12″

I was hooked! I love the rain. It feels cleansing to my soul and the smells and sounds of soft rain make me happy. I also love the sunshine and the way light moves across figures casting gorgeous shadows and edges. I relish newness in my work, altering my palette as the whim beckons. I use both soft and bravado strokes to lead the eye into and around the painting.  Through color and line, all the senses are encouraged to stop and absorb the spirit of the brushstrokes and the essence of the work.

At The Met Series - Van Gogh Up Close & Personal Too

“At The Met Series – Van Gogh Up Close & Personal Too”, oil on Senso Linen, 28″ x 22″

My goal as an artist and author is to share my love of art and words through my creative expressions. It takes courage to be creative. The more we acquiesce to the artistic energy, the more we allow our voice to be heard.

Reflecting II

“Reflecting II”, oil on Museum panel, 16″ x 12″

Within each of my paintings lies a vision I hope to portray. My original idea usually evolves into something entirely different as the painting emerges, often better than imagined. I paint in many mediums: oils, pastels, watercolors and mixed media. Each enhances the other.

Streets of New York - El Miro Cafe

“Streets of New York – El Miro Cafe”, oil on linen, 16″ x 12″

I have a soul wrenching passion for figurative painting! I thrive on the energy of people wherever I go. I find beauty in each of life’s moments simply by standing back and seeing my world as if viewing a painting. I want to capture the essence of people, unveiling their stories. I believe people are the energy of life, often our mirror.

Couch Series - Red Wine

“Couch Series – Red Wine”, pastel on board, 28″ x 17″

I have come to respect that each painting has a home it was destined to go to be loved and appreciated. It is always an honor to tell people I am an artist. Throughout the centuries artists have endured much to share their creative yearnings. The choice was really not an option. I humbly continue their noble quest and give back through my work.

Streets of New York - Shopping in the Rain

“Streets of New York – Shopping In The Rain”, oil on linen, 24″ x 20″

My paintings are held in many private collections throughout the world. My new book, “LOVE is my Favorite Color”, a compilation of my art and words of inspiration, will be available soon!

Each day do one thing you have been afraid to try.

Miracles will follow.

     Decide to dare.”
