  1. It’s too long to include here, but the quote by Ira Glass (This American Life) about the creativity gap was so helpful to me. The same “gap” is referenced in the book excellent book Art & Fear: “Making art provides uncomfortably accurate feedback about the gap that inevitably exists between what you intended to do, and what you did.”

    While my own gap has narrowed in recent years, I always seem to push a little further and have acknowledged that the striving is part of my process. It’s a way of keeping the challenge alive and not an indicator of failure or defect.
