Paired

“Paired” Oil on canvas, 24″ x 36″

I have been involved in art since early childhood. Some of my earliest artistic memories include trips to my grandparents where the first thing my grandfather would take out for me was paper and colored pencils. I would happily sit and draw anything that came to mind.

Pink Peony in Bloom

“Pink Peony in Bloom” Oil on canvas, 20″ x 20″

Throughout my school years art lessons were a must, and I while I experimented with as many different mediums as I could, oil paints were always my favorite. I began college with the goal of becoming a professional painter, but was quickly disillusioned and decided that something more practical would suit me better.

Lady Banks' Rose

“Lady Banks’ Rose” Oil on canvas, 22″ x 28″

Working in the financial world thereafter was unfulfilling, and to get back into the art world I began to study art history, receiving a Master of Arts in the field. Learning about the beautiful and mesmerizing works of 17th Century European masters inspired and energized me to pick up the paintbrush again.

Autumn

“Autumn” Oil on canvas, 20″ x 24″

My paintings are deeply personal and reflect my overall nature. I begin each piece rejuvenated, with a desire to make a more interesting and challenging work of art.

Lilacs in Green Vase

“Lilacs in Green Vase” Oil on canvas, 32″ x 24″

I make sure every detail is just right on every square inch and spend many hours on the bigger pieces. I believe my paintings are never truly finished and always see room for improvement. But of course at some point you have to put down the paintbrush and step away.

Two Roses in the Sun

“Two Roses in the Sun” Oil on canvas, 15″ x 12″

I have experimented with many different genres until I found my calling; flowers. I love their petal folds and intricacies, and get lost in the minute details while I paint. Flowers enthrall me like no other subject.

Vivid

“Vivid” Oil on canvas, 18″ x 18″

I also take great interest in the play of light on my subject matter, love bright color combinations, and often consciously increase the amount of contrast while I paint. What I hope the viewer takes away from my paintings is a sense of the beauty of nature and a feeling of serenity.

Red Peonies

“Red Peonies” Oil on canvas, 30″ x 32″

I wish for my art to be pleasant and enriching. There is no underlying message hidden in the folds of the petals. Just a calming and beautiful distraction from the world around us.

  4. I am glad you picked your brushes up again!! Your work is just SO lovely!!! You really achieve a translucency with the paint.

  5. Your work is very inspiring! I love painting flowers too…such a warm and serene feeling and a sense of joy….thank you for sharing your work. And yourself with us

  6. This is seriously beautiful. Kind of overwhelmed me in the best way. They remind me of an artist during the time when big cities were on the rise. She would paint the flowers to look “larger then life” so that people, even though they loved their new city lives, wouldn’t forget the beauty of nature.

The use of color and the EXTREME detail really make the flowers pop! I keep catching myself looking closer and closer trying to figure out how they look so life-like. I could image just putting one of these painting among a bunch of real flowers and not being able to tell the difference.
