Launching or growing a new handmade business? Join us for this six-week interactive online course, presented by The Arts Business Institute and F+W Publications.
I’m excited to announce an upcoming online course for artists titled How to Launch a Successful Handmade Business, which starts on September 1, 2015. I have co-authored this course with Wendy Rosen, who is the founder of the Arts Business Institute, the American Made Show and the publisher of Niche Magazine for retailers.
Sponsored by F+W Publications, the course will run for six weeks, and is a part of the curriculum at Craft Online University.
Weekly course modules are:
- Setting the Groundwork for Success
- Create Your Vision and Set Your Goals
- Making Work that Sells: Your Creative Process & Strategies
- Who Is Your Customer?
- Your Presentation and Your Brand
- The Marketplace for Your Work
Tuition for the full six weeks is $129. Students who take in the course will have weekly homework exercises to develop their own small business planning, their portfolio, their brand and marketing strategies.
They will also have the opportunity to receive personal feedback, suggestions and advice on the online discussion board which is provided for course participants. The discussion board is a place for students to present challenges they are facing, ask questions, and have conversations that can go deeply into topics from that week’s lesson.
This course is appropriate for hobbyists who have reached a high skill level and are interested in selling their work, and artists who currently have a small business but are facing roadblocks and need to learn additional business strategies.
