The Arts Business Institute, in partnership with F+W Publications, presents an online pricing course for artists and makers. Registration is now open; the course starts January 18, 2016.
“Pricing Strategies for Artists & Makers” is a new e-course that presents three learning modules for students who are looking for ways to price their art or handmade goods. The course includes a thorough discussion of pricing strategies, including:
- The basic pricing formula
- Pricing for your marketplace
- Understanding perceived value
- How to add value to your work
- What is profit and why is it important?
- How fine artists should price their work
- Reducing costs and increasing efficiency in your studio practice
- How to increase every sale you make
This course is appropriate for creative entrepreneurs who are launching a business, or have faced challenges with the pricing process. This e-course is taken online at the student’s own pace. It includes formulas, videos, case studies, artist stories, and “self-check” exercises for students.
In addition, an online discussion board allows interaction with the authors for a three-week period after the course opens. Discussions may center on pricing challenges, ideas, insights, and questions to help reinforce principles presented in the course, and to address students’ individual situations.
Co-authors of this course are Wendy Rosen and Carolyn Edlund. Wendy Rosen is the founder of The Arts Business Institute, publisher of NICHE Magazine for Retailers, and the founder of the American Made Show, a premier wholesale marketplace for handmade goods. Carolyn Edlund is the founder of ArtsyShark.com, the Executive Director of The Arts Business Institute, and a former production studio owner. F+W Publications is presenting this course on their learning platform, Craft Online University for a tuition price of $69.99.
