I am a French Canadian artist living in Ottawa, Canada. I studied photography and spent a number of years searching for the “right medium” to explore my artistic abilities. I acquired expertise in many different artistic mediums, including enamel on copper, pottery, stained glass, jewelry making, and more — which have all contributed to my visual vocabulary.

Painting was the medium that really captured my attention. I studied in formal and non-formal settings with local and visiting artists and chose watercolours to express myself. I worked with that medium for over eighteen years. Using my photographs, I loved painting scenes from the French Riviera. The local architecture, the cobbled narrow streets and the scenes of everyday life fascinated me.

Always searching and experimenting, I discovered the fragility of tissue paper and the boldness of acrylics. You can still see the influence of my watercolour experience in my “new medium.” My paintings stand out by their rich texture, bright colors, light and transparency. Inspired by a desire to celebrate life and to express the beauty of the natural world, I capture the atmospheric sensations of landscapes in alluring abstract works of art.

In my constant search for my artistic expression, I consider myself a mixed media artist. I am now incorporating collage, beads, stained glass and so much more. I am having so much fun doing it.

My inspiration is guided by the emotions of the moment that decide the colors I lay on paper. My brush is guided only by my imagination. From the fragile tissue and movement of color emerge fluid and luminous landscapes. I create paintings that depict unique atmospheres and evoke abstract landscapes that inspire us through the maze of our own imagination. In my paintings this is very much a case of “this is not what you are looking at, but what you see.”

I enjoy combining the bold colors of acrylic painting with the fragility of tissue paper to achieve a myriad textures, unexpected patterns, and varied translucent effects. The textures, bold colors, light and transparency continue to fascinate me. My technique always leaves room for surprises.

I hope my work touches people who see it. It is personal. I paint from the heart. When I’m painting, I am very spiritual, I think about life, relationships, and passed loved ones – the things that I care about.
