I am an artist living and working in the Chicago area. I have a BFA in studio art/commercial art (which is what they called it a long time ago).

I spent the greater part of my life painting murals, trompe l’oeil and faux finishes and am now able to concentrate on my personal style, which I am loving!

I discovered oil pastels, with the tutoring of George Shipperley, whom I consider my “guru” and my artistic world was changed forever.

I work in oil pastels and oil stick and have recently been obsessed with oil and cold wax. I feel like I learn something new every day and totally enjoy experimenting and testing new ways of using the medium.

I use many, many layers of paint, on which I employ both on and off processes and a variety of tools to create depth and colors that just couldn’t happen any other way.

I don’t use brushes. When painting, I mostly rely on my fingers along with rubber squeegee-like tools as well as other “unconventional” tools.

I am constantly amazed at the world around me and enjoy conveying my way of seeing it through my artwork, and so I paint landscapes, skyscapes, and cityscapes, as well as figures, be it person or animal, all of which I find to be so interesting.

I’d call my style expressionistic, impressionistic, atmospheric and sometimes a bit abstract. I love color and movement and strive to make both come together in my paintings.

I hope my work stirs up emotions, and I would love for people to get as much enjoyment out of viewing them as I do creating them.
