As long as I can remember I wanted to become an artist. My first memory was in kindergarten where I was recognized by the whole class because I could draw the best Batmobile!

 

 

My parents and teachers encouraged my love of drawing through grade school and into high school. It was at this time that I decided to take my skills to the next level and get an art degree. After taking fine art and graphic design at a local junior college, I went on to Columbus Collage of Art and Design, where I received my BFA in illustration.

 

 

My first job was in the garment industry where I started designing graphics for t-shirts. I decided to move to California and absorb myself with greater challenges. I found opportunities working in marketing, fashion and advertising. I stayed in the industry for twenty-seven years.

 

 

In 2016, I decided to focus on becoming a full-time fine artist and moved to Utah. In Utah, I am inspired by an outdoor lifestyle, open spaces and a constant awe of the mountains. I still do a bit of advertising and marketing to pay the bills and keep up to date on design trends.

 

 

I became fluent in software programs such as Photoshop in my corporate environment. Here I found a new tool to create my fine art.

 

 

I’ve also become interested in Steampunk and recycled art, which works well with my love of surrealism. I kept my digital and assemblage art separated up until recently. Now I have integrated the two mediums of digital and found objects into mixed media assemblages. My go-to tool is the computer, but you can often find me enthralled inside an antique store or flea market.

 

 

I am inspired by old and new technologies—how each advance affects us and penetrates our communities and values. I feel very strongly about the environment and how our earth is not an infinite resource. Lastly but not least, I am a Christian who strives to give my art a deeper spiritual meaning.

 

 

My work has been featured in magazines, won awards and sold at galleries throughout the country.

 

 

My goal is to be able to support myself solely on my fine art and not have to work in the corporate community anymore.
