My name is Marina. I am a self-taught photographic artist who is a dreamer at heart with a love of the old masters Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh. In 2014, daily evening walks through beautiful Coatesville, New Zealand introduced me to photography.

My snapshots with my iPhone soon turned into a full-time obsession, and a real DSLR (digital single lens reflex) camera soon followed.

Painting was never my calling. Instead, I capture natural light to create photographic images, especially those of flowers.

My images are very personal and reflect not only my emotional connection with nature but also the current mood I am in.

My camera is both paintbrush and paint using natural light, blur and gorgeous textures; I share my vision through a lens. My childhood memories of my grandmother’s garden, of discovering sweeping African landscapes and wild oceans continue to inspire me to capture the beauty of our natural world.

It is important for me to have an emotional connection to my subjects, and I love sharing my work with people who can appreciate the emotion and story that each image portrays.

Most of my floral images are named after the inspirational woman in my life—my mom, sister, daughter, and my friends, but most importantly my grandma Wilhelmina. She is unfortunately long gone, but I often smell or feel her presence in the gardens I visit.

Beautiful work, Marina! Reminds me a lot of classic still-life paintings.
