Art Business Summit Dallas-Fort Worth takes place Sept. 7-9, 2018. Sponsored and presented by the Clark Hulings Fund for Visual Artists.

September 7-9

Art Business Summit/Dallas-Fort Worth

Sponsored by The Clark Hulings Fund for Visual Artists, this event kicks off with a welcome reception and “Art Business Congress” at Turner House, home of Oak Cliff Fine Art Society on Friday, September 7th. The two-day art business training sessions will be held at the Alexander Mansion on September 8th and 9th, with a wrap party after the event to be held at Carneal Simmons Contemporary Art in Dallas.

The theme of this professional development weekend is “Conquer the Changing Marketplace,” and will inspire entrepreneurial artists to take a deep dive into the business side of their art careers. Presentations will cover the following topics: Developing an Action Plan, Presenting Your Best Portfolio, Creating a Brand Story, Multiplying Revenue Streams, Selling Art Online, Pricing for Profit, Building Strong Team Support, Overcoming Resistance and more.

Also included are breakout sessions, expert panel discussion, group activities, and networking opportunities. This program is intended not only to educate artists, but also to assist them in going beyond the summit’s learning experience and taking action to grow their small businesses. Speakers will be Carolyn Edlund, Daniel DiGriz and Elizabeth Hulings.

Art Biz Seminar/ Manahawkin, New Jersey

Sponsored by The Arts Business Institute and the Pine Shores Art Association, this two-day professional development seminar will take place on the beautiful Jersey shore. The program presents practical strategies for working artists and makers who want to  launch or grow a successful small business. Each presentation is interactive, with Q&A encouraged.

Topics to be covered include: The New Marketplace, Creative Marketing, Pricing, Sales Strategies, Who is Your Customer?, Gallery Relationships, Making Work that Sells and Building an Effective Art Website. Speakers will be Carolyn Edlund and Wendy Rosen.

October 12-13, 2018

Arts Business Summit/West Virginia

Sponsored by The Arts Business Institute and Tamarack Foundation for the Arts, this professional development weekend for artists and makers takes place in beautiful West Virginia at the Canaan Valley Resort. The program will cover high-level strategies for creating sustainable small businesses.

Topics to be covered in this learning event are: Creative Marketing, Pricing for Profit, Niche and Alternative Markets, The Corporate Art/Interior Design Market, Making Work that Sells, Sales Strategies, Selling Art Online and Building Gallery Relationships. Individual consultation appointments are available and will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Program speakers will be Carolyn Edlund and Wendy Rosen.
