Florida Art-Business Conference

Join us for an exciting two-day intensive art-business training event in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this coming February.

 

Art-Business Conference Fort Lauderdale happens February 1-2, 2019

 

This Art-Business Conference is to be held February 1-2, 2019, and presented by The Clark Hulings Fund for Visual Artists (CHF), a nonprofit organization that equips professional visual artists to be self-sustaining entrepreneurs. The event is co-sponsored by ArtServe, with funding provided in part by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners.

The focus of the conference is “Conquer the Changing Marketplace” which addresses why and how artists must increasingly become self-directed entrepreneurs. Technology has become a great disruptor, affecting whole sectors in the art world. This offers enormous opportunities, but also challenges artists who are balancing their studio practice with business planning, marketing and sales. “Art is a business, artists are small business owners, and yet they are not usually taught how to function in the marketplace,” says Elizabeth Hulings, Director of CHF and a speaker at the conference, “Their consequent lack of business knowledge increases insecurity and paves the way for exploitation and failure. Our comprehensive art-business learning resources educate, challenge and support entrepreneurial artists who want to transform their dreams into reality.”

Other conference speakers are: Daniel DiGriz, Marketing Director for CHF, a corporate storyteller who writes a Forbes column, hosts several podcasts, and leads organizations and entrepreneurs to find and deliver their brand narrative to motivated buyers and constituents, and Carolyn Edlund, founder of Artsy Shark and an art business consultant and writer.
