Art-Business Conference in Fredericksburg, Virginia November 7-9,2019


The Virginia Art-Business Conference is scheduled for November 7, 8 and 9, 2019. It will include both an art industry event and a two-day immersive business training program for working artists. It is co-sponsored by The Clark Hulings Fund for Visual Artists, Stafford County, VA Economic Development, Mary Washington University, and Fredericksburg, VA Economic Development and Tourism.

The kickoff day for the conference starts with a Thriving Art Exchange. This event will be held in the pavilion at the historic Belmont Estate, in Falmouth, Virginia. Belmont was the home and studio of famed American impressionist painter Gari Melchers. The Exchange will include artists and industry stakeholders, including municipal, college, and nonprofit arts administrators, collectors, gallerists, retailers, and others. The purpose will be to foment discussion, ideas and collaboration, in order to shape a flourishing local arts economy that serves all of its members.

The second and third days of the conference will provide an intensive business learning program for artists at the University of Mary Washington Stafford Campus. Topics include Career Blueprint, Business Objective, Creating an Action Plan, Nailing Your Brand Story, Portfolio Presentation, Peer Networking, Sales Strategies, Pricing, Selling Art Online and more. Presenters are Elizabeth Hulings, Director of The Clark Hulings Fund, Daniel DiGriz, CHF Marketing Director, and Carolyn Edlund, CHF Sales & Events Director and founder of Artsy Shark.
