To “diverge” means to follow a different path or direction. After years of unsatisfying jobs, I decided to take a new direction in my career.

Thinking back to my BFA in Theatre, I knew a career in the arts was the only one right for me.

I earned a BFA in Directing, but spent the next ten years working in defense contracting. I also held jobs in marketing, event planning and graphic design. However, a class in metal arts spurred my passion for making jewelry.

With an interest in art jewelry, I began the process of studying fabrication and design.

In 2007, I started my business Divergence Design. I have enjoyed experimenting and developing my unique minimalist style since then.

My geometric designs may be an influence of my engineer father. The contrasting softness of pearls may be my mother’s influence. It’s only coincidental that my grandmother was named Pearl.

I especially like the mid-century modern, atomic age designs. The works of Betty Cooke, Art Smith, Georg Jensen, and Margaret De Patta are inspirations for my designs.

And of course, Frank Lloyd Wright’s designs are an influence. So I was pleased when the gift shop at Fallingwater asked to represent my jewelry.

I hope you will appreciate the dramatic minimalist design of my jewelry. Though different, it is easily wearable, lightweight and affordable.
