My name is Everton Fitz Arthur Fearon. I am a Toronto-based painter, born in Jamaica in 1979. My journey as an artist began in 2006—not through formal training or tradition, but through instinct. Compelled by a creative urge I couldn’t ignore, I walked into an art store and purchased an easel, canvas, and paint. That simple, impulsive act changed the trajectory of my life.

I have always been a vivid dreamer. Stories and imagery would flow through my mind in quiet moments—during the hum of everyday life or while I slept. I didn’t always know what to do with them until I found painting. Now, I use paint to project those internal visions outward, giving shape to what once lived only in my head.

“Animal Instincts” acrylic, paper, resin on canvas, 48″ x 48″

My Caribbean heritage is the heartbeat of my work. I carry the colors, textures, and rhythms of Jamaica with me. They emerge through vibrant palettes, dynamic patterns, and layered compositions. I work primarily in mixed media, combining acrylic paint with discarded materials like paper, wood, and textiles—fragments of the everyday that carry their own hidden stories.

Upcycling and sustainability are central to my practice. This is why I choose to work with materials that others overlook and throw away. I use art to breathe new life into what is otherwise considered garbage, turning forgotten objects into vessels of meaning and beauty. Each layer is both a creative and environmental decision, transforming waste into wonder.

For me, creating is not about perfection—it’s about transformation. A blank canvas becomes a map of memory, layered with touch, history, and movement.

My pieces aren’t just images; they’re experiences. Each one is a reflection of emotion, a vessel for memory, a portal to curiosity and care.

In every work, I search for balance—between chaos and calm, between structure and spontaneity. I want viewers to feel something instinctive, something beyond the visual. To lean in. To connect. What begins as a deeply personal process often ends up resonating beyond me. My art is both expression and invitation.

Eighteen years after that first easel, I’m still basking in that original spark—the thrill of translating the invisible into something real. I didn’t go looking for art. It found me—and gave me a voice that speaks without words.
