I am an Australian-born artist and recently moved to West Yorkshire England. The change is exciting! I feel as though I am bringing the tropics of Australia to the United Kingdom and can’t wait to get my work out there more.
We only arrived here eight months ago so I am still settling in really. I paint bright bold tropical fantasy and beach scenes either in acrylics on canvas, paper or as digital images in adobe illustrator.
At the moment I working on a series titled ‘Castaways’ for my art licensing agent in Florida, and it’s really fun! I choose the subject of tropical art because it reminds me of my happy childhood growing up in Papua New Guinea (the second largest island in the world).
I am inspired by the beautiful bright colours found naturally in lush tropical foliage, flora and fauna. When I was a child, nature was my playground and I call upon those memories to uplift me on a daily basis.
I began painting full time at the age of 21 when I gave up a successful career in hairdressing to follow my dream of being a professional artist. It’s been a whirlwind ride since I made that decision and a lifestyle that I am enormously grateful for.
I have enjoyed regular gallery representation, held solo exhibitions, won Government Scholarships and other art awards over the past 23 years in Australia.
Recently I gained representation for art licensing with Porterfield’s Fine Art in Florida. My work is going out for prints and canvasses to a number of venues, including Lieberman’s, and will be available soon.
Now I am seeking a fine art agent with gallery representation in London to help me share my bright bold tropical images with the UK.
