Expressing myself with color has been a great journey since my childhood. As far back as I can remember, I have enjoyed painting.
Years later, I decided to go to the School of Fine Arts in my hometown of Cartagena, Colombia. This multicultural city has inspired many of the most prestigious artists in Colombia and Latin America. There I found my true passion for painting, and I began my career as an artist.
As an Abstract Expressionist artist, my tendency is to use radiant colors. My intention is to create a harmony of joyfulness, and arouse a sense of emotion with my art. I strive for intensity through expression and selective techniques. This is what has continually characterized my identity.
Beginning with a white canvas, I capture the essence of life with every vivid brushstroke. When I discovered and fell in love with oil painting, I found the great advantage of this medium; that it lets itself be manipulated and has an essential brightness. Best of all, it can be mixed with any other texture without losing its uniqueness.
I do not create any preliminary sketches before painting each canvas. I embrace the emotions that inspire me, and express them with color and texture.
There is spontaneous freedom in the act of painting each subject. I let the viewer imagine the story of every object I paint, and let it submerge into a fantasy within the viewer’s mind.
I capture the thrill of painting with my vast palette of colors, which unify to build my final story. I want to create and spread good energy in every environment where my art is displayed. That is the primary purpose of my art – to stimulate great feelings.
Enjoyment is my fundamental message.
