I am a professional contemporary Aboriginal painter from Australia. I specialize in painting the Australian Animal Dreamings of my country. I tell spiritual stories that accompany my paintings and reveal a universal wisdom of life, awakening and healing for the soul.

I draw my inspiration from nature, my own experiences and my Aboriginal culture which comes from my father’s side. A lot of people ask me about my white skin. Although my father is Aboriginal in heritage, my mother is Irish. I am actually the whitest one in my family.

Although my exterior is something that has raised a lot of controversy here in my own country (as a result of the white assimilation in the early to mid-1900’s from the government’s authority), it doesn’t stop me from being continuously inspired by my strong passion and close affinity to nature that I feel from my Aboriginal heritage.

I started learning more about my heritage back in 2004. My spirituality was awakened when I travelled around Australia for five years and began participating in traditional women’s ceremonies. I have been very fortunate to experience and witness a lot of things about nature that many would find hard to believe.

I do believe in a united way of life and one that doesn’t focus on division via race, coulour or culture. A lot of ancient cultures are dying out and this is very sad to see. I believe in nurturing the spirit of the land and allowing that to heal the lives and souls of people who want to be reborn or live in a way that is more focused on freedom, peace and love – to be whom they want, regardless of imperfections or differences.

Yes, this may sound all hippie-like. Call it what you want, the idea is very simple really, the way nature intended.

Putting it into practice is the real challenge, but it is the most rewarding. It is something that truly enriches your life and the lives of those who surround you.
