“The Last Taxi” acrylic on canvas, 40″ x 30″

My grandmother and my father were both oil landscape painters. My grandmother painted murals in small country churches that could not afford stained glass pieces at the altar. My dad taught me to see time in nature as a sacred and spiritual experience.

“No Vacancy” acrylic on canvas, 48″ x 36″

My work is an expression of the reverence I feel for the Canadian landscape, combined with a hint of whimsy. While my style is my own, I definitely see their influence in my work.

“Lone Pine” acrylic on canvas, 20″ x 24″

I work out of my studio in Corbyville, Ontario Canada which is on the cusp of the Canadian Shield. I am fortunate to be surrounded by the rugged Canadian landscape.

“Saved you a Spot” acrylic on canvas, 30″ x 40″

Artists and art instructors are fond of saying, “Paint what you know.” That is most definitely what I do. I spent my childhood camping and cottaging in lake country and I paint to remember those times—to pay homage to the beauty of the Canadian landscape, and to celebrate the ties that bind us all as Canadians.

“Alone at Last” acrylic on canvas, 12″ x 12″

In fact, one of my favourite comments from collectors when they are looking at one of my paintings is, “This painting reminds me of….” It is truly an honour to create works that evoke beautiful family memories.

“Magic at Dusk” acrylic on canvas, 30″ x 48″

I use a modern impressionist style when painting, which I consider uniquely Canadian, involving strong black lines and vivid colors to express the beauty of our landscape.

“Goodnight Sweet Hearts” acrylic on canvas, 30″ x 30″

I am often told that my work is reminiscent of stained glass—that is no accident. Over the years, I have worked with glass. I am always surprised by the beauty of a stained glass mosaic when it catches the light.

I take great pride in being identified as a Canadian painter. The arts community in Canada is warm and welcoming and incredibly supportive and I am overwhelmed by the vast talent we have in our country.

As I move forward in my career, my goal is to not only establish myself as a well-known Canadian painter, but to also ensure that there is a voice for future generations of artists in Canada. Please enjoy this small sample of my work and be sure to connect with me to let me know if any of work sparks joyful memories of your own.
