I’m Danielle Cowdrey. I went from unexpected layoff to full-throttle artist, creator, and believer that every “no” in the past was a step toward this life. I’m thrilled to share my journey and current adventures.

I never planned to become a full-time artist. After years of working in technical recruiting, I was laid off when I least expected it. At first it felt like the rug had been pulled out from under me, but in that moment of uncertainty, something surprising happened. Instead of fear, I felt possibility. I turned to painting and mixed media as a way to process, explore and heal.

My art is about transformation and seeing beauty in both the mundane and the extraordinary. I love using color, texture, and composition to reimagine what most of us pass by. I invite people into spaces of emotion, reflection and joy. Because of this dedication, I’ve had a few dreams come true. One of my works was recently displayed on a billboard in New York City, catching the eyes of strangers on the daily subway and sidewalk circuit.

Also, I traveled to London to see my work in person when it was featured in the London Biennale. Standing in that space, surrounded by so many international stories and voices felt surreal, but also like I’d come home to myself.

These moments certainly aren’t just trophies; they’re confirmations that the choices I made in that difficult time were worth it. They remind me that creativity has power far beyond what I initially imagined.

Looking ahead, I want to deepen my reach: show in more cities, collaborate with other artists and brands, maybe even do immersive installations that let people enter into the worlds I paint. I’m also committed to growing as an artist by experimenting with new techniques, pushing boundaries of scale and always staying curious.

Right now, I feel more alive, more aligned, and more excited than ever. My art has helped me heal, given me purpose, and connected me to community. I can’t wait to keep building this story with every brushstroke, every show, and every person who pauses long enough to look.
