“Wrath” mixed media sculpture, 18″ x 18″
I definitely exist in a weird place in the larger landscape of the art world. I hail from the Midwestern United States, but my work is in the Dark Surrealism tradition.

“Cathedral of Rapid Eye Movement” charcoal, 20″ x 16″
My stylistic roots draw inspirations from the works of European artists like Zdzisław Beksiński, H.R. Giger, Mariusz Lewandowski, and M.C. Escher, as well as American artists like Chet Zar, Alex Grey, Aunia Khan, Dack Oenomaus, Jessica Perner, and Glenn Arthur.

“Janus” charcoal, 12″ x 8″
Its definitely not “sofa art.” I don’t really create with a message or narrative in mind, but more of a vibe or mood. It is meant to be evocative rather than story-driven. I couldn’t tell you what it means, though… nor could I necessarily tell you who its for.

“Gigeroid” acrylic, 17″ x 14″
My patrons seem to come from all walks of life and economic backgrounds, but if I had to nail down a type of person I envision as my typical fan, patron, or collector, its probably the “ethical degenerate”… the kind of person who has employed a safe word at least once in their life, but unfailingly returns their shopping cart to the cart corral. A principled pervert with a functioning sense of the profound.

“Equinox” charcoal, 14″ x 11″
As for my creative process, it is almost invariably a stream of consciousness evolution. Pre-planned pieces are the exception rather than the rule.

“Kronos Reactor” acrylic, 16″ x 12″
There are very few study sketches of anything, save for some general practice pieces from my sketchbook just to brush up a working familiarity with basic forms and concepts, rather than as a place for fleshing out a future project.

“Solstice II” acrylic, 24″ x 18″
The fleshing out process happens in real time. I almost never know what a finished piece is going to look like from the beginning, beyond a few vague details.

“Libido II” charcoal, 16″ x 12″
The closest I typically ever come to a plan is vague seeds of ideas planted in the half-asleep hours in the middle of the night when I’m wrestling with insomnia.
