mixed media and oil painting of a hummingbird and flowers

“Scarlet Nectar” mixed media oil, 24″ x 20″

Painting is a way to remember myself and explore what makes my heart light up. I am drawn to expressive eyes, layers of color, beauty in nature, and the occasional flash of shimmer that feels impossible to resist.

“My Way” mixed media oil, 20″ x 16″

I work in mixed media, combining acrylics, oil paint, collage, markers, and other media to create paintings that feel emotionally honest and full of energy. My pieces are layered, sometimes chaotic underneath. I’ve come to believe that tension is where the life is. I want places where the eye can rest, and places where it can’t.

softly ethereal painting of flowers

“Song of Echinacea” mixed media oil, 36″ x 36″

My father painted, and from an early age I knew I liked to draw. As an adult, I took graphic design courses at Pratt and acrylic painting classes at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey. But the real shift happened in 2024, when I decided to stop treating fine art as something alongside my life and start making it the center.

“Waiting” mixed media oil, 36″ x 48″

I enrolled in The Mastery Program at Milan Art Institute and immersed myself in learning and practicing. My whole world opened up. I felt playful and energized by new techniques and approaches. I learned faster and painted faster than I ever had before. And I went from five paintings a year to fifty.

layered painting of a young woman

“Electric Nostalgia” mixed media oil, 20″ x 20″

I had spent a long time being very good at paying attention to everyone else’s needs. When I reconnected with this part of myself, I realized how long I had gone without asking what I wanted. I had to start from scratch—learning what I like, what moves me, what I want to put into the world.

I’m still figuring that out. But I hope that’s visible in the work, and people recognize something familiar in it—the searching, the layering, the moment when something finally clicks into place.

The tagline on my website is “Let the Light Find You,” and I chose it carefully. That’s what returning to art has felt like for me. And that’s what I hope someone feels when they stand in front of one of my paintings: not that they’re being told something, but that something is finding its way to them.
