Art has been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember. Although born in New Jersey, I spent more than four decades in Arizona. I relocated to Northern California 11 years ago. Growing up close to Manhattan gave me early exposure to the rich artistic culture of New York City. Frequent visits to museums helped shape my creative outlook and appreciation for visual expression.

I received my Master’s degree from Arizona State University and dedicated more than 20 years to teaching visual arts in the Scottsdale Unified School District. My background includes training in fiber arts, printmaking, and mixed media. These are disciplines that continue to influence my artistic voice.

My work is driven by a love of vivid color, expressive shapes, layered textures, and complex patterns. Through abstract compositions that range from non-objective to figurative, I explore themes inspired by travel, human connection, and the rhythms of everyday life. I value the freedom to move fluidly between styles, materials, and techniques, allowing each piece to evolve organically.

Throughout my years as both an educator and practicing artist, I worked extensively with traditional artistic methods and materials. Over time, however, my creative process expanded into experimentation with unconventional media, varied surfaces, and new technical approaches.

Sewing, beading, textiles, and printmaking are often incorporated into my pieces, alongside an ever-growing range of mixed media elements. My work reflects an ongoing curiosity and a desire to continually challenge myself artistically, while remaining mindful of the relationship between people and the environment.

Sustainability has become an important aspect of my practice. My most recent work,  incorporating recycled and repurposed materials, demonstrates how I seek to transform discarded objects into meaningful visual narratives. I find fulfillment in giving new purpose to forgotten materials whether scraps of fabric, worn paper, or pieces of plastic, and revealing their hidden beauty through art. This process reflects my belief in renewal, resilience, and the value that can emerge from imperfection and reuse.

Because my work is rooted in exploration, it is constantly evolving. I approach each piece with openness and flexibility, layering diverse materials to create surfaces that are rich with texture, depth, and movement. Through the interplay of color, form, and mixed media, I strive to create artwork that invites both visual engagement and emotional connection. I encourage viewers to experience each piece in a personal and meaningful way.
