Colorful Booth Design 2012

By Carolyn Edlund

How “Wow” is your show booth?

Today, booth design can be lightweight, easy to set up and have great impact using banners for backgrounds, and playing up the color. Here are five booths at three trade shows seen this year which pulled visitors in from the aisles:

Artist Bren Talavera enjoys her first day exhibiting at the Surtex trade show in New York City. She displays her colorful and whimsical art to be licensed to manufacturers.

Wendy Costa Studio goes wild for eclectic design and a fun atmosphere in her booth at the Buyers Market of American Craft in Philadelphia. Her small business makes fashion accessories like “typewriter” purses and knee socks in bright, collaged graphics.

Trade show booth, National Stationery Show

Mary Kay Robinson of MK Designz admits that when she put up the black and white patterned backdrop for her booth at the National Stationery Show in New York, her neighbors looked a little askance at the getup. She played off the busy pattern with eye-popping blue backgrounds for her bright retro-collage greeting cards and journals.

Melissa Ybarra, the talent behind Iza Pearl Design (shown here at the Surtex Licensing show) calls her work “a fanciful affair of visual delight.” It certainly is!

The Canadian artists at Basic Spirit look ready to celebrate in their booth at the Buyers Market of American Craft. Blocks of color punch up the atmosphere, where they feature their handcrafted pewter home essentials, giftware and jewelry.
