My art career began in 2014 after much time spent on personal discovery. I was in my mid-fifties and had spent the better part of thirty plus years in sales and marketing careers. Downsized from my job, the prospect of looking for new employment was gloomy.

After deep soul searching, I asked myself what was it I wanted to do next? What would make me happy and fulfilled? What was the next chapter of my life going to look like?

I’d kept a secret to myself for many years. One I never spoke out loud. Through this soul searching, I realized I had the time and passion to pursue that secret – to paint.

I’ve been an art collector for many years and greatly admired artists. There was this little voice inside my head telling me I too could paint. Little did I know that all these years a gift was waiting to be unwrapped.

Abstraction found me as a style. I don’t think it was a conscious decision to paint abstractly. I paint intuitively with bold colors and composition.

Most of my work is inspired by the splendid beauty of northern New Mexico, especially the Santa Fe area. Painting is a spiritual pursuit for me. I paint the colors of my soul. While I may live in sunny Florida, my soul resides with the crystal blue skies and majestic, sacred mountains of New Mexico.

My paintings start with a blank canvas and no perceived idea. In my mind I have a vision of what the painting looks like, but it’s nothing tangible, just a feeling.

Once I start applying the first layers of paint, the fun begins with layers and more layers and removing and adding more layers. Favorite tools are my hands and palette knives.

I currently exhibit my work in Florida galleries and through various social media platforms. Having a marketing background has certainly proven useful in the business side of art. I’ve recently joined VIDA as one of their fashion designers using my artwork. My artwork translates very well to fashion and home décor accessories.
