“Ode to Flowers” acrylic on canvas, 20″ x 20″

With a degree in fine art, my life journey led me to being the published author of 44 books, a book coach, a teacher, a copywriter and a small business owner. I have come full circle to my true love—creating art.

“Here Among the Flowers” acrylic on canvas, 16″ x 20″

I’m always yearning for the bursts of blooms and vibrant colors of nature in spring and summer. Living in Montreal, Canada, where winter looms cold, dark and long, I see flowers as my antidote; the uplifting force that brings me light.

“Nothing but Flowers” acrylic on canvas, 16″ x 20″

Painting nature is like a horticultural ice cream parlor. I’m always mixing magenta, yellow and orange to get combinations that don’t exist in the paint tube in an effort to express endless nuances of saturated color.

“Love and Tenderness” acrylic on canvas, 24″ x 36″

I strive to paint the essence of flowers and nature, the sensation of the sun beaming on my face, the wind rustling the leaves and the feelings that stir my heart.

“Blossoms from Beyond” acrylic on canvas, 24″ x 36″

I love building layers with acrylic paint, pencil and crayon. I use fresh, playful elements to infuse my artwork with vibrant color and rich organic details.

“Once More With Feeling” acrylic on canvas, 20″ x 20″

In spring and summer, as I take my daily neighborhood walks, the bright vibrant colors rise to greet me, and provide endless inspiration. The sensuous shapes of the flowers symbolize the circle of life. I’m smitten with the endless sensuous contours of flowers, with gossamer plumes and clusters, daisy and bell shapes, spiky leaves and droopy petals.

“Under the Midnight Sky” acrylic on canvas, 16″ x 20″

I began painting on black backgrounds after I discovered that many of the famous Dutch flower artists of the 1600s traditionally painted on dark backgrounds.

Deep hued backgrounds highlight the luminous shades of flowers, evoking feelings of mystery and hidden depth, bringing history to contemporary art.

“Summer Dream” acrylic on canvas, 20″ x 20″

Fresh flowers in a home are always uplifting, but not always available. A painting of flowers is eternal and lives on long after the real petals have faded.

I continue to explore the secrets that nature holds. There is no more glorious inspiration than what nature generously provides.
