“Garden Star” acrylic, 36″ x 48″

At the age of seven I discovered drawing. Finding it very enjoyable, I leaned into painting soon after, followed by sculpture and other forms of creative visual art. The simple act of creating had a very compelling pull for me. It was as though it were visual storytelling where the story was personal for the individual viewer.

“Spring Marsh” watercolor and gouache, 20″ x 16″

I challenged myself through both formal and individual training. With each project, I developed a unique technique and style which has evolved through time. Teachers who believed and encouraged me through junior high, high school and college were instrumental. They added to the value I find in the creative process.

“Sundown Holiday” acrylic, 40″ x 30″

After art school I began a career as a graphic artist in the marketing industry. During those five years I realized that fine art was my passion. I was able to share that passion with gifted and talented grade school students through my work at the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston, Texas.

“A Petal, A Rose, Moss A Bee” acrylic, 48″ x 36″

Through art I have grown as person as well. Art has taught me that serving others brings joy not only to the person receiving, but also to me as the artist. Most importantly it allows me the opportunity to convey my thoughts and ideas to the lives of others and potentially shape their views on various topics.

I believe God has gifted us all with a purpose, something that we can give and do for the larger community. His creation inspires my work, especially nature in all its beauty.

These days I am the mother of three and the grandmother of five. My husband and I grew up in North Central New York. We dated in high school, married after college, moved to Texas, then to Western New York, back to Texas, and finally retired back where we started in North Central New York.

There is one thing that I have carried with me throughout our circular journey—from leaving my home at 18 years old and coming back to my home at the age of 66—and that is that I have a purpose.
