“Portrait of Sienna” pastel on Canson paper, 18″ x 22″
I’ve been involved with art since early childhood. Growing up I was always drawing and painting. Eventually I received a BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio.

“White Pumpkin” oil on linen, 13″ x 17″
After graduation, I moved to New York City and began working as a storyboard artist in a mid-sized advertising agency. Later I worked as a freelance illustrator for various magazines and book publishers doing spot illustrations and young adult book covers.

“Portrait of Hoyt” pastel on Canson paper, 18″ x 22″
Throughout my career I have been honing my skills with painting, drawing and sculpture classes at the wonderful art schools in New York City. I had additional private study with Daniel Greene, Michael Aviano and Jon DeMartin.

“Still Life with Pears” oil on linen, 9″ x 13″
Then in 2005 I was accepted by Portraits Inc. and asked to join their roster of portrait artists. It was a dream come true, a highlight of my career! I love working in a variety of mediums: watercolor, oil, pastel and silver point. My subject matter includes portraits, still lifes, landscape and botanicals.

“Quiet Courage, Portrait of Adolf Tolkachev”, oil on linen, 33″ x 38”
In 2011, I received a special commission to paint a portrait of Adolf Tolkachev. He was a Russian citizen who spied for the US Government. This painting was to honor Tolkachev, whose story is also the subject of a nonfiction book The Billion Dollar Spy. The painting is hanging at the CIA Headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

“Great Grandmother and Infant” pastel on Canson paper, 19″ x 25″
In addition to my portrait work, I teach watercolor painting to adults with classes on Zoom and in person on Staten Island. I also teach plein air watercolor workshops in Italy, England and Ireland through the art tour company Tuscany in the Frame.

“Portrait of Zoe” pastel on Canson paper, 15″ x 17″
All in all, I’ve had a varied career. I am so grateful to God to be doing what I love for so many years! It’s a blessing to share with others and pass on what I’ve gained from the wonderful teachers in my life and from life experience.
