“In the Beginning” photograph on aluminum, 20″ x 16″

In college I was a Fine Art major before I began my journey into photography. My many classes in painting, composition and color theory have truly informed my work.

“One O’Clock” photograph on aluminum, 20″ x 16″

Since college I have been a mother, teacher and therapeutic riding instructor, but have never put down my camera. I see detailed beauty in the objects that people pass by everyday, and have been influenced more by the work of painters than by other photographers.

“Tropical Overlay” photograph on aluminum, 11″ x 14″

My goal is to capture a mostly completed image through the lens and change it as little as possible in post-production.

“Through the Looking Glass” matted and framed photograph, 16″ x 16″

At times I will slightly crop, change levels or contrast, but never “change” colors—what you see is what you get. Often the composition of what I photograph is so compelling to me that I choose to print it in black and white.

“Tempeste Rouge” photograph on aluminum, 16″ x 16″

People ask what “style” I work in. Well, that depends on what I see when my camera and I take a trip together.

“Shall We Dance” matted and framed photograph, 16″ x 16″

There are so many wonderful textures, colors and exquisite patterns in both natural and manmade objects. The possibilities are endless. Often, I will start with a larger image and zoom in until I find a wonderful macro “pattern within a pattern,” which adds a little mystery to what the viewer sees.

“Brooklyn Abstract” photograph on aluminum, 20″ x 16″

My abstractions are printed primarily on aluminum, as that seems to give better depth to the image as in underpainting. All my photographs on paper are matted and framed by me, in order to have control of style, size and color of the materials.

“Wheat” matted and framed photograph, 14″ x 11″

I love sharing my images with others, hopefully starting a discussion about what the viewer perceives. In many cases the subject is obvious, in others, well, I let the viewer decide. Please enjoy your journey.
