contemporary figurative painting of a woman and dog

“Couple and Dog” acrylic on canvas, 48″ x 36″

Born in 1974, I am a professional artist presently working out of India. Painting is my source of happiness, as working with colors makes me feel alive and energised.

painting of a couple as chess boards

“The Game of Chess” acrylic on canvas, 48″ x 36″

Over the last 25 years, I have painted various subjects like nature, animals, birds, flowers, celebrities, vintage cars, classic automobiles and more. Figurative paintings are the closest to my heart. They allow me to express emotions like love, passion, joy and happiness with colors and creativity.

Contemporary painting of a woman and dog

“Lady, Dog and Beach Umbrella” acrylic on canvas, 48″ x 36″

For me, all humans are equally beautiful and are perfect creations. Their charisma is not restricted by any particular attire, customs or country. Through consistent simplification of the form, I have created a universal, absolute figure. It stands for and relates to all genders regardless of their differences and diversities.

Surreal contemporary painting of a woman

“Remembrance” acrylic on canvas, 42″ x 36″

I use perfect symmetrical forms like squares, rectangles, checks and butterflies to cover the human figures. They symbolize the modern human race striving for perfection.

Painting of a woman, Victrola and dog

“In Harmony” acrylic on canvas, 60″ x 42″

The primary emotion in my paintings is love. It is a universal language spoken not just by humans, but every living being. Feeling loved and giving love is the essence of life. One cannot live a meaningful and fulfilling life without it. In my paintings I portray the love that humans share between themselves and even other living beings like pets.

patterned painting of a lady and a cat

“Lady and Cat” acrylic on canvas, 48″ x 36″

A subject I am very passionate about is classic and vintage automobiles. Their beauty is evergreen. Every one is elegant and elite in their own way. The unique aesthetics of each model inspires me to treat it as a piece of art that I then translate to my canvas.

Colorful painting of a vintage Ford auto

“Ford” acrylic on canvas, 50″ x 35″

The concept that there is no hierarchy of culture and that art may borrow from any source has been one of the most influential characteristics of Pop art. Hence, I have combined the most beautiful and majestic classic cars and bikes with bright and vibrant colors to turn them into Pop art.

colorful painting of a motorcycle

“Harley Davidson” acrylic on canvas, 66″ x 36″

My favourite medium is acrylic on canvas. With every painting, I have felt myself maturing as an artist. Working on large canvases has been an exciting experience. It requires me to justify the space, balance the composition, maintain the color scheme and use layers and subtle texture appropriately.

Contemporary figurative painting

“Freedom” acrylic on canvas, 36″ x 30″

I draw my inspiration from many artists of the past and the present. However, three artists who have the greatest influence on me are Picasso, Andy Warhol and Amrita Sher-Gil. I’ve always been impressed by their bold works, their out-of-the-box and revolutionary thinking and their courage and dedication to change the world of art. I’m proud to be influenced by these known artists.
