I am an artist from Amarillo, Texas who spent nearly four decades as a police composite artist. Since 1990 I have created more than 100 Santa portraits, building each face from thinned, dripping oil.
My art gives discarded and underestimated things a new, celebrated story of quietly breaking expectations and pushing a material’s limits. This still life was created by skinning frames of reclaimed copper wire with acrylic medium.
With no formal training, I began painting a few years ago at age 75. Now 79, I love experimenting with different styles using acrylics and watercolors.
This piece expresses the intensity of emotions we can sometimes feel in life. The figurative element is focused on a woman’s torso and hand, which is overlayed with a flower. A partial image of the Arch de Triumph is behind her and some stenciling on the right.
I blend realistic wildlife and botanicals with abstract backgrounds to create imaginative paintings inspired by nature. Layering paint, collage, and metallic leaf, I invite viewers to discover beauty beyond the familiar.
I was taught that art is meant to speak … a story, an event, a journey through form and color. I term my art Emotion/Abstraction, evoking good feelings and thoughts.
Golden Bloom celebrates hope, resilience, and renewal through a solitary yellow rose. Painted in oils with delicate, expressive brushstrokes, it captures the quiet strength of nature and the beauty of finding light within stillness.
I love the power of colour in painting! Colour can be so evocative, and I believe it’s an important part of the human experience. It can uplift and inspire the human soul.
