My art is rooted in a lifelong connection to landscape and the emotions it can evoke. I am a New York-based painter. I’m originally from India, and my journey  from India to California and now New York, has profoundly shaped the way I see color, light, and space.

 

 

Growing up in India surrounded by vibrant color and rich visual traditions, then living along the expansive California coastline, gave me a deep appreciation for both intensity and tranquility in nature. New York added energy and urgency to all of that. California gave me the love of the land. New York gave it a pulse.

 

 

Working in oil and acrylic on canvas, I create Abstract Realist landscapes that exist between memory and place. Rather than painting a scene exactly as it appears, I aim to capture its essence. The feeling of standing before a horizon, the hush of early morning light, or the sense of calm that comes from being immersed in nature. I want my work to feel familiar yet open-ended. I invite viewers to bring their own memories and experiences into the painting.

 

 

My process is intuitive and exploratory. I build paintings through layers of color, expressive brushwork, and sometimes through textured surfaces that reveal traces of what came before. Areas are added, obscured, scraped back, and rediscovered, creating a sense of history within the work. These accumulated layers mirror the way we experience the natural world, not as a single moment, but as a collection of impressions, memories, and emotions.

 

 

Nature is my greatest teacher. Its cycles of growth, resilience, change, and renewal continually inspire me. Whether drawing from the California coast, the Hudson River landscape, or memories of India, I am interested in creating work that conveys both energy and stillness. My paintings often explore the space where abstraction and representation meet, allowing color, texture, and atmosphere to communicate what words cannot.

 

 

My work has been sold on Williams Sonoma Home, One Kings Lane, and featured on Elle Décor, Hyperallergic and Popsugar among others. It has been exhibited at art fairs and galleries across the United States. These include VOLTA Art Fair, Hamptons Fine Art Fair, Red Dot Miami, and Art Market San Francisco.

 

 

Beyond the studio, I volunteer as an art teacher and mentor. I also serve in nonprofit leadership, and contribute to charitable initiatives that use art as a tool for connection and positive impact. Making art, sharing it, and passing on the love of making—for me, these are all part of the same thing.

 

 

Ultimately, I hope my paintings offer a moment of pause, a reminder of nature’s beauty, resilience, and ability to restore us.
