My art began behind the lens of a camera.
Over the years, I’ve traveled the world, seeking out unique images to mold with digital tools to create fantasy worlds and characters. The endless possibilities of blended and layered images are how I share my wisdom, life experiences and emotions. Each piece reveals something personal about me.
But I didn’t always create art.
I wandered away from my craft to work in advertising as a young adult, and several years later I settled down as an educator. As I progressed in my career, I realized that part of teaching others was continuing to educate yourself. And for me, seeing new things, participating in different events and cultures, was the best way to learn. It was during this time that my passion for photography rekindled.
Using inspiration from history, childhood fantasies, over-the-top cinema and clever musical lyrics, I’d play.
I’ve always striven to make my artwork pleasing to the eye, yet slightly mysterious. This is the reason why I’ve never created a piece called “Untitled.” The titles of my artworks are clues to the secrets I’ve hidden inside.
Five years ago, I was lucky enough to become part of an international online artists community named Awake. They helped me tune my artistic voice, gain confidence and nurtured my technical skills. I found myself no longer a hobbyist creating art solely for myself, but an artist longing to share what I created with others. In kind, I have always hoped to spark the imagination of those who see my work and tickle their curiosity.
First and foremost, my intent is to tell a story. Through digital fine art I share that story.
My images are typically photo collages brought together and enhanced through a wide range of techniques and software including Photoshop. By blending those images, creating atmosphere with lighting, balance using color, adding texture and painterly effect, my story becomes real.
I also regularly display work at local galleries in northern Nevada and am frequently published in the online magazine AWAKE – Living the Photo Artistic Life.

Hi Catherine. Great work. I have a photo of The Angel Tree (see Charleston, SC) I’ve wanted to photoshop ‘angels’ in it. I’m not that great in photoshop. Maybe you’d be interested. Susan
I LIKED THAT MEETING BETWEEN TECHNOLOGY AND YOUR PERSONAL EXPRESSIONS. PERFECT ARTWORK.
